Tseng, 1998 [4]), abbreviated the FBR scheme, is also suitable for heterogeneous clients of different communication capabilities although it is originally designed for homogeneous clients of the same bandwidth. Given α channels of total bandwidth α · b Mbps to deliver a video of the consumption rate b Mbps, we first show that the FBR scheme can be employed to serve clients with communication capabilities ranging from b to α · b Mbps. Furthermore, we propose a simple way to determine the minimum bandwidth required at any given time slot.

Smooth Fast Broadcasting (SFB) for Compressed Videos
One way to broadcast a popular video is to partition the video into segments, which are broadcasted on several streams periodically. The approach lets multiple users share streams; thus, the stress on the scarce bandwidth can be alleviated without sacrificing viewers’ waiting time. One representative approach is the Fast Broadcasting (FB) scheme. The scheme does not obtain shortest waiting time...

This paper presents the design, simulation, and measurement of two low-cost broadband circularly polarized (CP) printed antennas: a single element and an array at C band. The proposed single element antenna is excited by an L-shaped strip with a tapered end, located along the circular-slot diagonal line in the back plane. From the array experimental results, the 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth can r...

Broadcasting is one of the most fundamental operations in mobile ad hoc networks. Broadcasting serves as a building block in many routing protocols. The simplest approach for broadcasting is flooding. However, it generates many redundant messages that cause to loss of scarce resources such bandwidth and battery powers and it may lead to contention, collision and extreme decrease of network perf...

متن کاملAdjustable Interleaving Staircase-Harmonic Broadcasting Scheme for Highly-Demanded Videos
With the growth of broadband networks, Video-on-Demand (VoD) has become realistic. Many significant broadcasting schemes have been proposed to reduce the viewers’ waiting time. However, clients are required to receive video segments altogether from all channels. This disregard not only needs a lot of client bandwidth, but also incurs more buffer requirements. To escape from these constraints, t...
